Linda Goldman
Hi! I'm Linda Goldman. I am the founder of Flourish Parent Coaching, the mother of two young adult daughters, and a spouse of 30 years. Parenting my two daughters has been the greatest joy of my life. I became a parent coach because I love working with families to help them rediscover the joy in their parenting experience. We all know that joy does not come without struggle. As a family, mine weathered many challenges. As a budding teenager, my oldest daughter developed an eating disorder that she struggled with for many years. My second child suffered from depression and began using substances to cope as a teenager. While I would not wish these things on any family, I can say with complete sincerity that I wouldn't change a thing for us. My children grew from their experiences in ways they may not have without having had them. They gained insight, self-confidence, compassion for those who struggle, and the belief that they could persevere in the face of great adversity. As a parent, I learned that to love is to trust, to not only hold on tight but to also let go, and that we can only take care of others if we take care of ourselves first.
Whatever parenting concerns overwhelm you today, know that you are not alone: at least, you don't have to be. I can be there for you, without judgment, without shock or surprise or pity, without cookie-cutter solutions. I can remind you to take care of yourself to take care of your children. Together we can co-create a more satisfying and sustainable path forward for you and your family.
My Background
My educational background includes earning degrees in Social Work and Psychology from Western Washington University. Following that, I studied American Sign Language and Deaf Cultural Studies at Gallaudet. I worked for 30 years as an advocate for Deaf battered women and their children, and also worked as a parent educator in the Deaf community. During my career, I returned to school to complete a graduate-level program in Parent Coaching from Parent Coaching Institute. In 2020 I started my private Parent Coaching practice. Outside of my work, I volunteer at a horse rescue and rehabilitation, offer pro bono services and guidance to individuals served by The Abundance Project, and enjoy spending time with my family and in my garden.
I became a PCI Certified Parent Coach® because I could see that parenting is not a one-size-fits-all for parents and children after working with parents in group settings. There is no one right way to do it. Coaching focuses on the magic that makes you and your family unique.
As a parent coach and support system during overwhelming parenting moments, I model attentive listening and insightful questioning, and offer non-judgmental support while being an enthusiastic cheerleader for parents wanting to make positive changes. I specialize in helping disconnected families get more connected to one another. For families who already have a good connection, I can help them maintain that connection through whatever challenges they encounter. I have personal experience navigating the systems and resources available to families worried their child might have an eating disorder or experiencing depression or substance use. Whatever struggles you and your family are experiencing, I promise it is easier to get through it together.
